The Knox County Veterans Service Office has announced the program for this year’s Memorial Day service on the Mt. Vernon Public Square at 11:30 after the parade. The special speaker will be Command Master Sgt. Craig Cox.

The Richland County Coroner has released the name of the man who died Wednesday in the restroom of the Marathon gas station at Woodville Road and South Diamond Street in Mansfield. Bellville resident Colton Viars, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. Mansfield Police said an employee found the man’s body. Authorities suspect Viars died from an overdose, but are awaiting autopsy results.

Ohio State basketball star Aaron Craft spoke to a capacity crowd at the Mt. Vernon High School theater last night. He talked about his faith in God and how it has made his life more fulfilling. The event was sponsored by the Church at Chapel Hill in Mt. Vernon.
